Simplifying a Fraction

LOWEST TERMS or also known as (AKA ) Simplify - a fraction is in lower terms when the NUMERATOR and DENOMINATOR of the fraction have NO COMMON FACTORS other than ONE.


HOW TO SIMPLIFY A FRACTION:

There are TWO ways to simplify a fraction:

1st. Try dividing both the TOP AND BOTTOM of the fraction until you CAN' T go any further.

2nd. Divide both the TOP AND BOTTOM of the fraction by the GREATEST COMMON FACTOR, (you have to work it out first!).

Divisibility Rules

Today we learned about Divisibility rules .

Dividing by 2

All even numbers are divisible by 2. all numbers ending in 0,2,4,6 or 8.

Dividing by 3

The sum of all the digits should be divisible by 3.

Dividing by 4

The last two digits of the number should be divisible by 4.

Dividing by 5

If the number ends with 0 or 5.

Dividing by 6

If the number is divisible by 2 or 3 , it is also divisible by 6.

Dividing by 8

If the last three digits is divisible by 8.

Dividing by 9

Add up all of the digits , the sum should be divisible to 9.

Dividing by 10

If the number ends with 0 , it is divisible by 10.
