Measure of Central Tendency- a value that represents the centre of a data set.
- can be the mean, medi
an and mode.

Data set- is a group of numbers that you mus
t arrange in order from least to greatest.
e.i 2,4,3,5,3,4,5,5,6,4,5,3,7,34,5,6

arrange from least to greatest: 2,3,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5,6,6,7,34

Note: Before you find the Median, Me
an or Mode be sure that you arranged it from least to greatest.

Median- the middle number in a set of data after the data have been arranged in order.



If you left with two numbers you need to add them and divide them to get the median.

Mode- the most frequently occurring number in a set of data.
- mode and most have both 4 letters.
e.i
mode of 3,5,7,7,9 is 7 because 7 appeare
d the most.
mode of 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4 is 1,2 and 3 because they appeared the most.
mode of 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3 is no mode b
ecause they`re all last or second place.

Mean- a measure of central tendency.
- the sum of a set of values divided by the number of values in a set.


Range- the positive differences between the largest and smallest values in a data set.


Outlier- a value that is much larger or smaller than the other data value.
- the data set may have more than 1 outlier or zero outlier.

1,67,68,64,65,100 are 1 and 100 because the rest of them starts with 6 except for 1 and 100.

Number of the Day (8-14)

Number of the day: 1234.567

8. Power- A base with an exponent is a power.
    

- Write a power using the digit  in the 100th (1234.567) place as the base and the digit in the 10s (1234.567) place as the exponent.

9. Power in factor form
6 x 6 x 6= 216
- Six ,three times...not  six times three.

10. Cube - means three dimensional (3D)
- L x W x H  = N(umber) x N x N = N³
-  Cube the digit in ones place - 4 x 4 x 4 = 4³

11. Squared - means it has two dimensional (2D)
- L x W = N(umber) x N = N²
- Square the digit in hundreds place - 2 x 2 = 2²

12. Use a calculator,
- 1234.567 ÷ 3.55 = 347.7653521
- Rounding numbers...
  • Look at the given nearest place value...
  • Make the numbers that end in 1 through 4 into the next lower number that ends in 0. For example 74 rounded to the nearest ten would be 70.
  • Numbers that end in a digit of 5 or more should be rounded up to the next even ten. The number 88 rounded to the nearest ten would be 90.
- Round it to the nearest 100th - 347.8
13. Product- is an answers into a multiplication question.
      Digit - a part of a number, a symbol to represent the number.
- Product of all the digits (use a calculator) - 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 x 5 x 6 x 7 = 5040
- Forget about the decimal.
- Remember if there is (are) 0 digit(s) in the number the answer is 0.

14. Prime numbers- numbers with 2 factor, one and itself, not 1 or 3 more.
- 3, 5, 7 are prime numbers of 1234.567

Number of the Day number 1 - 6

Number of the Day =  1234.567

1.Half the number
- Divide it by 2. (1234.567 / 2 = 617.2835)

2. Expanded form,
-True value of each digit
-1000 + 200 + 30 + 4 + 0.5 + 0.06 + 0.007 = 1234.567
- Wrong! (.4)  (200.000)  (30.500)

3.Write number in words
-One thousand two hundred thirty four and five hundred sixty seven thousandths

4.Rounding numbers
- Look at the given nearest place value...
-Make the numbers that end in 1 through 4 into the next lower number that ends in 0. For example 74 rounded to the nearest ten would be 70.
-Numbers that end in a digit of 5 or more should be rounded up to the next even ten. The number 88 rounded to the nearest ten would be 90.
-Round to the nearest 100: 1200

5. Place value

- What digit is in the tenths place? 0.5

6. Double the number
- Multiply it by two
- 1234.567 x 2 = 2469.134
