Linear Relation- A pattern made by two sets of numbers that results in points along a straight line on a coordinate grid.

Graph- a visual way to show how two sets of numbers relate to each other.

Relationship- a pattern formed by two sets of numbers.

c= cup

c + 3
Let say there are 6 counters in the cup

6 + 3
6 + 3= 9

^^^ That is an equation...

_______

3c + 2

3(4) + 2

3 x 4 = 12

12+2= 14*

* over all marbles

________

Now try to answer this:

4 x + 3

x= 3

Answer:

Table of Values- a table showing two sets of related numbers

Table:

how many squares in figure # 60?

Answer is 60= 121

x2+1 is the expression

2(60)+1=121

2f+1= s

^^f= figure

model the expression

2y + 4 with cups and counters

then show if:

y= 1

y= 3

y=1

2y + 4=

2(1) + 4=

2+4=

6=6

y= 3

2y + 4=

2(3)+4=

Probability Continued

Organizing Outcomes

1st way chart or table

Independent events- the outcome of one event has no effect on the outcome of another event.

Sample space- all possible outcomes of an experiment.

For example:

The question in the class is: A coin is flipped and a 6 sided die is rolled. These 2 events are called independent outcomes.

a.) Use a table or chart and list all the possible outcomes...

Second way to organize outcomes

Tree diagrams- a diagram used to organize outcomes contains a branch for each possible outcome of an event.

Homework for page 20-21 question number 1-4

1.Estimate 6.6 divided by 2.3

6 divided by 2 = 3 > The answer e.) Front- end estimation

Front-end estimation is the highest place value when estimating.

2. (The picture shown in the booklet) Estimate 6.6 divided by 2 = 3

                      6 divided by 2 = 3 underestimate

                       8 divided by 2 = 4 overestimate

The answer is a.) Number line estimation

Number line estimation is when you use number line on estimating.

3. [C] 25.73 [ divided by] 3.1 [=] 8.3

24 divided by 3 = 8

27 divided by 3= 9

The estimate suggest an answer between 8 and 9. The answer 8.3 is reasonable.

The answer is b.) Estimate, then use a calculator

4. Divide 20.4 divided by 3.

(The picture shown in the booklet) <3>

                                                              <3>

21 divided by 3 = 7

The answer is around 7. The decimal point goes between the 6 and 8.

The answer for this question is c.) Divided as whole numbers, then estimate to place the decimal

Correction on number 21

Describe letter a. type of transformation needed:

A.) turning a knob to a open door

The answer is Rotation.

The answer is because if you try to do it in real life, you will notice that the door knob will turn either counterclockwise or clockwise same as the rotation. The rotation will depend on the degrees it will rotate. It either rotate on 90, 180, 360 and etc.
