Division and multiplication goes from left to right, and same with addition and subtraction.
Example:
2+3x4=14
2+3x4=

14=

1.) Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7 + 6÷2. She claims the answer is 3.85. Do you agree? Explain why or why not?
A: Annie is wrong, here is is the right answer.
1.7+6÷2=
1.7+3=
4.7=
2.) Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible. What strategy did you use?
A: My strategy is division an multiplication, here's how i did it.
(3x2.8)+6.4÷4 =
8.4+6.4÷4=
8.4+1.6=
10=
3.) Arbiter wants to buy hot dog that cost 2.50, and then he saw a package of maynards that cost 1.60 each. Then later that he saw a pack twizzlers that cost 1.25. Now Arbiter want to buy 1 hot dog , 1 twizzler and 5 maynards. but he only has $10.00. Do you think he has enough money?
A: No because all cost $11.75, heres how I found out.
2.5+1.25+5x1.6=
2.5+1.25+8=
2.5+9.25=
11.75=
