Simplifying a Fraction

LOWEST TERMS or also known as (AKA ) Simplify - a fraction is in lower terms when the NUMERATOR and DENOMINATOR of the fraction have NO COMMON FACTORS other than ONE.

HOW TO SIMPLIFY A FRACTION:

There are TWO ways to simplify a fraction:

1st. Try dividing both the TOP AND BOTTOM of the fraction until you CAN' T go any further.

_________________________________________________

2nd. Divide both the TOP AND BOTTOM of the fraction by the GREATEST COMMON FACTOR, (you have to work it out first!).

- SO, DO YA' THINK YOU CAN DO IT BY YOURSELF NOW ? :
- WELL, IF YOU THINK SO TRY TO SIMPLIFY THESE FRACTIONS:

  • 8/12
  • 24/108
  • 12345/67890

QUESTION:The blood groups of 200 people is distributed as follows: 50 have type A blood, 65 have Bblood type, 70 have O blood type and 15 have type AB blood. If a person from this group is selected at random, what is the probability that this person has O blood type?

Answer: 35%,35/100,70 is to 200(70:200) or 35 is to 100 (35:100)

Order of operations- The language of Math

Today we learned about the order of operation when calculating a long operation involving several different signs( e.g. addition, subtraction, division ,multiplication etc..). There is a certain way of doing this operations, the method is called BEDMAS. Which stands for

B- Brackets ( ) - it means that you should simplify first all the numbers in a bracket.

E- Exponents 23 - it means that you should simplify numbers in exponent form after you have simplified the numbers inside the brackets. 23 means 2x2x2.

D- Division
Note: Multiplication and division are like brothers, whoever comes first to them from LEFT TO RIGHT, you use that first.
M- Multiplication

A- Addition
Note: Addition and subtraction are like sisters, whoever comes first to them from LEFT TO RIGHT, you use that first.

S- Subtraction

Examples:

9094112355 ÷ 3 + 1671541346 - 2 x (50561+215125) x 2.256241=

Here's a exercise for you to answer.

( 0.75-0.5)x(4.2 ÷0.6)x(4.2÷0.6)+7.3-1.2=

The answer is

7.85 check and Figure out why!

Correction for number 10

Question: In which quadrant is the point with coordinates (11, -6)?
a.I
b.II
c.III
d.IV

Solution: Look at this coordinate grid:

-If you can see there is a line going up (Vertical) and going side (Horizontal). They are also called Y axis and X axis. Y axis is the line that goes up and it is always in the last when you write the coordinate of a point.
-While the side line (Vertical) or X Axis is the line that goes sideways and it is always in the first when you write the coordinate grid of a point.

-When plotting a points in a coordinate grid, always look for the number in the X axis, Vertical, Side line first and finally you should look again for the number that you're looking for in the Y axis, Horizontal, Up line.
-A coordinate grid is compose of 4 parts (Quadrant I, II, III, IV)
-In the middle of a coordinate grid there is a 0 there. 0 is either Positive or negative,It is also calles the origin

-So if we plot (11, -6) in a coordinate grid.Which Quadrant the point will plot?

Here's the answer:
