Notes For January 24,2011

1st.) Question - p(heads and tails) when flipping a regular coin.

Use a tree diagram to show the sample space.

Express the answer as a percent.

Answer:

Sample space:

Percent: 25%

2nd.) Question- p (rolling 4 and then a 2) with a six sided die.

Express as a ratio.

Answer:

6 x 6= 36 all together.

Ratio: 1:36


3rd.) Question-p ( getting red and blue in any order) when spinning this spinner twice.

Find the fraction, ratio, and percent.






Answer:

Probability>>>


Fraction: 2/16( simplified 1/8)

Ratio: 2/16, (1/8)

Percent: 12,5%


4th.) Question- Create a tree diagram to show all the possible outcomes when a coin is flipped and a spinner is spun with five equal sections labelled run, skip, jump, twirl, and twist.

(find p (heads and jump))



Answer:

Probability>>>



Fraction: 1/10

Ratio: 1:10

Percent: 10%

Random- An event which every outcome has an equal chance of occurring.

Good job Kim ! I liked the pictures and how they match up with the notes, it looked really organized. You might want to check on the spelling in the bottom, it says "ti" instead of "to".
