Order of Operation

B- brackets

E-exponents

D-division (division and multiplication go in order from left to right)

M-multiplication

A-addition ( addition and subtraction go in order from left to right)

S-subtraction

Here is an example :
Step 1 : 5 x 3 - 4 + 57 = Step 2: 15 - 4 + 57 = Step 3: 11 + 57 = Step 4: 68=

Question 1: Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7+6÷2. She claims the answer is 3.85. Do you agree? Explain why or why not.
No I do not agree because the real answer is 4.7 . Here is how I got the answer .

Problem: Taylor goes to the store with $9.50 and decides to buy a lollipop that cost $1.25, a drink that cost 2.50 and 5 bags of chips that cost $1.60 each. Will Taylor have enough money to buy a lollipop , drink and 5 bags of chips ?

Answer: No, Taylo
r does not have enough money to buy 1 lollipop, 1 drink and 5 bags of chips because all together they equal to $11.75 . Here is how I got my answer.
